I love how his description of improvisation sort of mirrors how we were planning our stuff. Improvisation just doesn't happen, it has to be planned a bit. But god is the end result glorious.
First of all I enjoy this video, the part that touched home with me was the fact that you can change the rhythm, melody or harmony or any combination of those three and it really changes everything about the piece, especially the mood.
This was definitely very cool and I agree with Ben about how the changes really add to the effect of the music. Jazz people after all do know improvisation the best.
